The Dueber Avenue School first opened its doors to the children of Canton on May 5, 1890. At that time, only six rooms were needed to take care of the student enrollment. Over its first decade Dueber was practically overflowing with students, until Clarendon Elementary opened its doors in 1900.
A new Dueber was undertaken in 1951 and opened its doors on May 7, 1952. It was the first time in Canton's history that children moved en masse from an old to a new building on the same site.
The building continues to serve its neighborhood well on Canton's southwest side.
